I lead the anti-fraud stack at KOMOJU, a cross-border payments platform in Tokyo — the rule-based engines and machine-learning models that decide which merchants we onboard and which transactions we trust, spanning real-time velocity and card-testing defenses, a rolling-reserve credit-risk scorecard, AML transaction-monitoring, and an LLM merchant-screening agent — plus the team that builds and runs them. I optimize for one number: more approvals with fraud held flat. Fifteen years in software engineering, the last six in payments fraud and risk; before this I was CTO of a US insurance-software company and a senior engineer at Ant Group. First-Class BSc (Honours) from The Open University, concentrated in mathematics and statistics, with an OU master's combining finance and mathematics in progress; Node.js core collaborator (emeritus), speaker at RailsConf and RubyConf; fluent in English, Chinese, and Japanese.
